Have you downloaded the most recent versions of the installers (canoscan toolkit and plugin installer) from Canon's site?

Not sure if this will help, but occasionally I'll get an error which says something like "Cannot communicate with scanner". If I unplug and reconnect the USB cable between the scanner and computer, it will work again.

I'm assuming since PS Elements 4 opens at all that you installed Rosetta when installing Snow Leopard, right?

I'm very happy for you, but for me, my Lide 80 scanner was not found and I haven't been able to get the device to work under 10.6. I've always been able to find a work around for all the previous releases of OSx and get the scanner working but no such luck at this point. BTW, the scanner is not found in my Photoshop Elements 4.0 and the canoscan software suggests to re-install the software (canoscan). No luck there either.
